Each session is $199 plus tax. With each session being
approximately 48 hours, that works out to just $4.15 an hour.
What is included in the program cost?
In addition to the instruction/care time, we provide
meals while your camper is at Mont du Lac, and program supplies.
What if my child cannot make it for all of the days?
We offer a Daily rate of $45 + tax. The child
still must be registered for the session including a note of which days they will be attending and
all session fees paid at least one week prior to the start of camp.
What are the benefits of sending my child to camp at Mont du Lac?
Our camp program is
unique in that we only take 8 children per session and have 3 experienced staff members to
work with them. This gives children lots of hands-on experience and a chance to really connect
with the people in their group. Through their hands-on experience campers will discover new
talents and develop life-long skills. Our outdoor setting encourages healthy activities and a
sense of wonder which can lead to healthier life-style choices now and in the future.
How does payment work?
A $25 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration. The
balance of the camp fee is due one week prior to first day of camp. Families registering after
this date please include the whole fee with registration. Campers will not be allowed to attend
camp without full payment.
Can my child sign up with a friend?
Yes, Campers may sign up with a buddy. Since we are small
groups 'buddies' just need to be registered for the same program and session.
What should my child bring?
Program supplies and meals are provided. In general children need comfortable clothes they
can be outside in that are appropriate for weather. For a complete list of what go to the

Who will be working with my child?
Our staff has a combined total of over 46 years camping and teaching experience.
We have worked with children between the ages of 4 and 17 as counselors, program directors,
Scout leaders, group leaders and ski instructors.
Our staff has a variety of degrees and certifications, including First Aid and CPR and a
certificate from the American Camp Association (ACA). All of our counselors have
had background checks and received a minimum of 8 - 10 hours of training prior to working with campers.
We have experience fire building, pocket knife safety and other camp tool use, map reading &
compasses, tent pitching and camp setup, camp stove use, knot tying, wilderness etiquette/wilderness appreciation,
plant & animal identification, camp
sanitation, crafts, games, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, car camping and horseback riding.
What activities are included?
Activities include: games, arts and crafts, and hiking. Our programs focus on 8 outdoor living
skills - First Aid and Safety, Outdoor Manners/Etiquette, Exploring the Natural Environment,
Outdoor Safety, Outdoor Cooking, Fire Building, and Knot Tying.
Where are the camps and programs held?
Programs are held at Mont du Lac Recreation mostly outside. We have an indoor program
space for inclement weather.
What happens if it rains?
Camp is held rain or shine. Campers need to have rain gear. If the weather is too bad we will
move into our program building.
What happens if my child is hurt while at camp?
Campers that are injured while at camp will
be treated in our patrol room and the incident will be reported to the parent upon pick-up that
day. If the injury is serious the camper's parents will be notified immediately as well as EMS as
needed.
How many people can my child bring to the Family Cookout and Program?
Campers are
allowed to invite 2 people to the Dinner. Campers can invite as many people as they want to
the program at 5:30pm. RSVPs are required for both the Dinner and the Program.
What is the refund policy?
Deposits are non-refundable; No refunds will be given for canceling
within 14 days of my child's camp session; No refunds are given if a camper is dismissed
from camp due to disciplinary action; No refunds are given if campers leave early due to
homesickness or personal commitments. Account balances are due 7 days prior to the start of
the session and I authorize Nature Quest Camp to charge any fees due at that time to any of my
credit cards on file (if applicable). Any registration submitted after that must be paid in full at the
time of registration.
What if my child needs to take medication while at camp?
Please list any medications the
camper is taking, including the purpose of the medication and the times and doses in the
Health information section of the registration form. If you desire Nature Quest Camp to assist
in the administration of medication, please fill out the separate form entitled "Request for
Administration of Medication. Medicine should be in original container marked with child's
name and complete dosage instructions. All medications need to be checked in with director at
the beginning of the day.
What should I do if my child is unable to attend camp on a particular day?
Please call Mont du
Lac Recreation to notify us of your child's absence. If no one answers please leave a message.
What is your policy if a camper does not show up for camp?
If a camper does not show up
within 15 minutes of the start time someone from the camp will call to find out where the
camper is.
How does drop-off and pick-up work?
Campers are to be checked in with one of the camp
counselors no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start of camp. Campers may only be picked
up by the people listed on the registration form. A photo ID is required. Please have children
picked up no later than 15 minutes after the end of the camp day.
Is there an Open House when families can visit the camp a have a tour?
While there is no set
Open House date/time. Families are encouraged to call Cherie at 218-626-3797 to set up a day
and time to come and visit.
Is swimming one of the camp activities?
While we have a pond on our property and access to
the St. Louis River at this time swimming is not an activity we offer.
What about strangers at camp?
Our camp is located at Mont du Lac Recreation which is open
to the public. Campers and staff will have name tags. All paying guests of the facility will have
a lift ticket to identify them as having registered in Base Lodge. Employees will have shirts or
name tags to identify them. Campers will use the buddy system and staff will know where they
are at all times. Campers will also be encouraged to let staff know if they see someone they
don't think belongs.
How do I know if my child is ready for camp/summer programs?
Children should be interested in attending, comfortable away from home without parents
and willing to try new things. Children should also be able to take care of basic needs
independently.
